Sports Massage Therapy can be beneficial to anyone looking to promote muscular and psychological health, whether that is due to an injury or muscular tension caused by stress.

It does not stop at the physiological level; new research is now able to show the beneficial effect of massage on the body’s nervous system and mind, helping to play an important role in an individual’s health and wellbeing.

Benefits of Sports Massage Therapy include reducing stress and tension (whether it is felt as muscular or psychological), helping to improve the quality and pattern of sleep, movement, everyday activity and more. Its effects are not only on the muscular system but also the lymphatic system, nervous system, cardiovascular system and as mentioned above, the mind that can all be positively affected.

Sports Massage isn’t just for athletes; it’s a technique that is applied in a specific way to you and your muscle tone to help relieve any issues you may have and maintain healthy muscle tissue. Utilising Sports Massage is best when in a regular routine as it helps keep muscular tension and imbalances in check.

Expert evaluation for steroid or Ostenil® joint injections

This appointment is for patients seeking an opinion on whether an injection may be appropriate to support their injury or condition.

During this session, your clinician will carry out a comprehensive assessment to review your symptoms, medical history, and any previous treatment. This allows us to determine whether a steroid or Ostenil® injection is the right and safe option for you.

💡 Please note:

This appointment is for consultation and clinical evaluation only.

- An injection may not be administered on the same day.

- Some medical conditions, allergies, or medication interactions (e.g., blood thinners, diabetes) may make injections unsuitable or require special considerations.

- If the injection is clinically appropriate and you choose to proceed, this will be discussed in full and either scheduled or provided at a suitable time.

Our goal is to provide safe, evidence-based care and clear guidance to help you manage your symptoms effectively.

Joe graduated from Coventry University in 2022 with a First-Class degree in Physiotherapy. He began working within the NHS in a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist role, gaining experience in the assessment and rehabilitation of acute and chronic conditions, as well as elective and traumatic surgeries. Joe’s skills and knowledge have been widened through exposure to professional football, having also worked in physiotherapist roles at Coventry City F.C and Newcastle United Women’s FC.

Joe’s background is strongly linked with a passion for sport and performance, which he developed through a 6-year youth career at Nottingham Forest Football Club, and later a football scholarship in Florida, USA. Stemming from this, Joe now has keen interest in athletic performance testing within physiotherapy; a specialism facilitated by state-of-the-art technology available at JP Physio.

Joe’s aim is to facilitate people to perform and feel better in sport and in life. Since relocating from Derby to Newcastle, Joe enjoys spending free time trekking in the hills or by the coast. He is now happy to call the North-East home but feels the number 9 shirt at Real Madrid would still be considered and insists a late bid can’t be ruled out!
